ORB-PRIVACY POLICY

Privacy Policy for ORB

Last updated: 21 September 2025

Overview

ORB is a Chrome extension that provides voice navigation and smart bookmarking features.
Your privacy is important to us — we designed ORB to store your data locally and only sync to Google Drive if you explicitly enable Pro features.

ORB complies with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies and Google’s User Data Policy.

What Data We Collect

  • Local Bookmarks & Settings: Bookmarks, topics, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Chrome storage.
  • Google Account (Pro only): If you connect Google Drive, we request OAuth authorization to create and update files you choose to sync. We do not access your email, contacts, or other Drive data.

What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect or sell your browsing history.
  • We do not run background tracking scripts on the websites you visit.
  • We do not share your saved content with third parties.

Permissions Explanation

  • activeTab: Used only to act on the tab you are currently using when you give a command.
  • storage: Stores your bookmarks and preferences locally.
  • contextMenus: Lets you right-click and “Send to ORB.”
  • scripting/tabs: Needed to display the orb UI and capture the active tab’s URL/title when saving.
  • identity: Used only for optional Google Drive sync in Pro.
  • host permissions: Required to display the orb UI and enable saving content consistently across websites. Content is never sent anywhere unless you trigger a save or sync. All processing happens locally in your browser. No page content is collected or transmitted.

Data Sharing

ORB does not sell or share your personal information. If you use Google Drive sync, your data is stored securely in your own Google account.
